Description
Cradle Mountain Tasmania
The day prior to me taking this photo was on of those less inspiring photographic days, poor light nothing special. Except for the weather forecast for the next day snow down to 1100 meters. Cradle mountain was on my shopping list of cool places to photograph, the landscape lends its self to the camera. Though in saying this you do not always get good visibility, anyway I drove the 3 hours to Cradle Mountain with the idea of getting up prior to dawn to get the photos I hoped would be there.
The next morning was very cold and I must confess I did not want to get out of warm bed in the camper trailer, anyway I did. To my amazement the trailer was covered in 5cm of fresh snow. The camping ground for Cradle Mountain is several KM away from the actual Mountain and a few hundred Meters lower. Did I mention this was the first day of summer for 2011.
Standing in sleeting winds to get this photo was so satisfying, despite having frozen fingers and having to dry the lens every so often. For me the clouds are as important as the mountain.
